Our Projects Past and Present
Current Project
Dalavich Improvement Group are currently working on making the environment surrounding the Village Hall, safe and pleasant for visitors and residents, the aim is to provide access down to the loch so that, people of all ages and abilities can enjoy the beauty of the area. Both sides to the Village Hall have been cleared in preparation for the "new look". Our environment is important to us and we are doing our best to ensure that visitors and residents can enjoy the area in safety.
Grass and Lighting
As you face the Village Hall and look to the right hand side you will see that the area has been cleared and now needs to be made ready for planting grass and plants. We are hoping to acheive this in the very near future. We also intend to place solar lighting along the pathway to make it easier for visitors arriving at or leaving the Village Hall. The work will be done mostly by volunteers and we hope to fund this by holding fundraising events and obtaining a grant for this project. Our intention is to make the area welcoming and safe and also to enhance the view down to the loch.
Road and Marina
On the left hand side of the Village Hall we will be providing parking and also a safe path down to the marina. The path will be accessible to people of all ages and disabilities and will have fencing on either side for safety as well as seats for the elderly or disabled to take a rest if they need to
Plans are underway for the well needed replacement of the marina. This project will enhance the area and make a trip to the side of the loch safe and more accessible to visitors and residents. We are at this present time seeking grant funding and we will be organising events to help meet the costs of this project.
Carbon Footprint Reduction
With help and guidance from Community Energy Scotland and The Scottish Government through it's Climate Challenge fund, the Dalavich Improvement Group embarked on a project to reduce the carbon footprint of the Village Hall better than 50%. The Solutions were, Air-tight stoves, insulation, double glazing, air recovery heat pumps, carbon calculators, engineering, and grants. All of these have been put into place through a lot of research, hardwork and complete dedication which resulted in reducing our carbon footprint.
The Dalavich Improvement Group would like to thank Lowenergy and John Wilson and Son, (Glaziers) Ltd for all their help and support in helping us to achieve our goal.
Air Tight Stoves
We researched sourced and purchased two air-tight stoves and fitted them in our village hall, we also renewed the huge chimney stacks. The wood burning stoves, helps to heat up the Village Hall and create a warm atmosphere.

Before After
This project was completed in 2008 and has made a big difference to the atmosphere of the village hall.
The Beginning
The Dalavich Improvement Group was formed in 2002 to purchase the Village Hall from the Forestry Commission, it did this successfully with the aid of local support and Grants.
